ALEXANDRIA, VA.- The National Park Service Tuesday morning announced the estimated 2013 peak dates for the DC Tidal Basin cherry blossoms will be later than originally projected.
The reason: Colder-than-normal temperatures the past few weeks in March, including Monday’s snow showers.
The new estimated peak dates are April 3 – 6.
The initial estimate for cherry blossom peaks was March 26 – 30, which forecasters had projected based on a relatively warm February and early March.
