Hayfield Thumps Wakfield 12-0

Hayfield, coached by Jimmy Linza, improved to 11-1 overall with an 12-0 thumping of Wakefield last week. In addition, Ireton dropped a 14-5 contest to Flint Hill (Oakton) and Washington-Lee defeated Yorktown 6-1. In softball, Hayfield demolished Wakefield 19-1. O'Connell pounded Ireton 11-1 and Mount Vernon

NATIONALS NOTES/Nats' Patsies

The Nationals took two-out-of-three games from the New York Mets in New York with a 5-2 win, so the Nats have closed out the first week of the season with a 3-3 record. Last year, the Nats started the season 0-7 and didn't win their first game until April 16. Last year, the Nats' third win didn't come until April 21

Final 4 Madness Takes a Firm Hold

Not only were there not a whole lot of Alexandria-area alumni playing in the Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament this year, there were relatively few from the entire Northern Virginia area playing in the Tournament. T.C. Williams alumnus ('08) Anthony Wimbush and the Loyola Greyhounds did not qualify for the Tournament.
