ALEXANDRIA, VA. -  Alexandrians and Washingtonians were bustin' loose this weekend and celebrating the first nice weekend we've had  in a long while.

Folks out in Fort Hunt absolutely packed the Village Wharf Friday Night to listen to one of Alexandria's favorite local bands, Black Moon Tonic.

Ladies came after Waynewood Bingo night, couples came on dates, and friends came to support neighbors.

The staff of The Village Wharf was stretched to the limits and was not prepared for the on-slought of BMT Fans.  Despite this, the concert went well, as the band played four great sets. There was a sense of fun, comradarie ...and cowbell.

The Queen Bee always loves more cowbell.

"We had a great time playing for our friends and  neighbors at the Wharf," said Black Moon Tonic's front-man, Adam Fazackerly.

St. Patricks's Day March 17th is their next big show and the band is playing a family friendly show and fundraiser.  This show is BYOB and potluck.

Bring along what you would like to drink and one dish of food (app, main course or dessert).  They''ll provide ice, plates, silverware and cups.  Come on over to St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 8532 Riverside Road Alexandria.  Showtime is 5:00 pm - 10 pm.

The Starlight Mid-Atlantic Foundation held its first annual First Annual Toast to the Stars Winter Gala at the newly opened District nightclub in Adams Morgan.

All proceeds of this event were donated to Starlight, which helps seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education, support and family activities in the D.C. area.  Starlight aims to bring together experts from pediatric care, technology and entertainment to create programs for the children.

"We don’t know how much was raised exactly, but at least over $12,000," said Katie Strumpf, director of programs and volunteer services for Starlight.  "This gave young professionals the opportunity to learn more about Starlight and helped to support children and families that we serve in the fun and trendy District nightclub. "

Cayan, the local hip hop artist, performed to delighted crowds of young philanthropists at the nightclub, as they celebrated the organization's dedication to helping hospitalized children and the Starlight's  fundraising efforts.

The Annual Chance for Life Charity Event was held at the historic and beautiful City Tavern Club in Georgetown. Hundreds of guests came together for a full day of poker and wine. The generous support of the attendees raised money - a significant amount at $150,000 and counting - to help find a cure for pediatric spinal cord cancer.

The inspiration for the event, Kennedy Snyder, is now nine and has spent the last year doing what she loves—enjoying life.

Kennedy is still in the need of a miracle, and this event brought that reality just a bit closer. Chance for Life 2010 Poker Tournament and Wine tasting raised $150,000 for childrens spinal cancer research in February.
