Nordstrom, in partnership with DC Magazine published by Modern Luxury Media, showed Washington’s stylish men what’s hot for fall with a runway show and cocktail party.  Special guest radio host John “cakes” Auville represented as a man of style for WJFK’s Junkies.

While political heavy hitters prepped for the VP debate, polished looks by Hugo Boss dominated the Tyson’s runway without contest. In red states and blue states alike, gentlemen will be going grey to welcome fall. From steely shades to charcoal hues in various weights of wool, grey trumps black for casual smoothness and all business looks.

Layering isn’t just for the ladies. Think t-shirts, collared shirts, lightweight sweaters, and jackets to achieve a fresh fall look. Texture is key. Touchable tweeds and smooth velvet jackets appeal to the eyes and the senses. For outerwear, car coats will take you from work to weekend and back to the grind in the projected cold, wet winter in a city where in an out can mean a short hop or a long commute.

From jewel tones to deep regal, purple is the accent color to rock. Play it safe with a tie or go for it with a boldly variegated stripe shirt. Just keep the rest clean and simple.

Gentlemen and their favorite shopping companions enjoyed wines from Evo Bistro and SurReal vodka tonics while scoping the racks and mingling. Ever creative Windows catering brought “man food” up a notch, while still hitting the hunky favorite battered and fried food group.

The evening’s gift bag included Shave gel from Anthony Logistics for Men and a gift certificate from Grooming Lounge for a free hot lather shave with purchase of a haircut, reminding guests proper grooming is key component of modern style.

Mark your calendar for two Saturday trunk shows at Nordstrom’s Tysons location. Armani shows on October 11 and Zegna on November 1.

Fedoras off to Nordstrom for pulling of a top notch event even in the midst of the ongoing renovation and construction.
